At Thomas Family Dentistry, it is our job and our primary goal to help you protect and maintain your oral health. We can only do this effectively when you visit us consistently for routine examinations and updated dental x-ray(s). For this reason, we don’t offer cleaning  appointments without examinations and x-rays.

During your examination, Dr. Thomas will screen you for dental concerns such as gum disease, oral cancer,  and tooth decay.

During your cleaning, our hygienist will remove the plaque buildup and bacteria that cause issues like gum disease and tooth decay; however, your hygienist can’t complete all the screenings that are vital to your oral health without current x-ray(s) an examination from the dentist.

If you have dental insurance, most plans cover most, if not all, of the cost of these preventative visits including the examination and x-rays, which means you will have minimal, if any, out-of-pocket expenses when you come to Thomas Family Dentistry for a cleaning and examination and/or x-rays.

If you have questions about your preventative appointment, please call us. We’re happy to answer them and find a convenient time for your next dental appointment.

Dental procedures vary greatly in cost depending on your needs. At Thomas Family Dentistry, if treatment is necessary, we offer every patient an individualized treatment plan that is based on their specific needs. We also may provide multiple treatment options to choose from if they are available.

We believe that patients should take charge of their own oral health and be able to select the treatment procedures that best fit their unique needs, lifestyle, and budget. We discuss the cost of treatment with you after your needs have been determined, and we will never start any procedure until your out-of-pocket costs and payment options are clearly understood.

We work with many different dental insurance plans. We are happy to help you understand what your specific insurance plan covers and what your out-of-pocket costs will be for treatment. We also offer options for monthly financing through CareCredit for patients who may have complex treatment plans. You can apply easily online through

We want high-quality dentistry to be accessible for all of our patients, so it’s our pleasure to work with you and help you determine how the treatment you need can comfortably fit into your budget. Contact Thomas Family Dentistry to learn more.

We work with a variety of dental insurance plans at Thomas Family Dentistry. Dental insurance is often confusing and difficult to understand, and that’s why our friendly staff members are here to help.

Each insurance plan is different, but you can expect that your plan will typically cover most, if not all, of your preventative appointments. This means that there is minimal cost to you when you come in every six months.

If you need restorative treatment, insurance typically pays a percentage of it. Your plan may also include a deductible, and some plans have a waiting period for major procedures. This means that there will be an out-of-pocket portion you will be responsible for at the time of your treatment.

We will always help you determine an estimate of your cost before starting any treatment so you can make the decisions that are right for your budget.

We also offer convenient payment plans through CareCredit  (with approved credit prior to treatment) for patients wanting to break the cost of more extensive treatment plans into affordable monthly payments.

If you have questions about your dental insurance or your payment options, please contact Thomas Family Dentistry today and speak to one of our knowledgeable staff members.

Patient comfort is a top priority at Thomas Family Dentistry. Our dentists have extensive experience and are very gentle. Our entire team is committed to giving you the best dental experience possible so that you will find our office very welcoming.

Drs. Gealon and Ben Thomas use only the best local dental anesthetics to ensure that you are completely numb and are comfortable during your procedure. We also use advanced technology, such as a dental laser and electric nickel titanium tools for root canals, which provide a better, more comfortable experience for our patients.

Patients who need a little more help feeling at ease during their visits can ask for nitrous oxide. Also called laughing gas, nitrous oxide helps patients feel relaxed during dental procedures and even produces feelings of euphoria or dreaminess. Nitrous can be used during most procedures and is safe for adults and children. It wears off quickly, so you can get back to your day immediately following your visit.

As we strive to exceed your expectations at Thomas Family Dentistry, we would love to know if there’s anything else we can do to improve your visits to our office. Please feel free to contact us with your ideas on this, and to schedule your next dental appointment.

Root Canal Therapy

Drs. Gealon and Ben Thomas perform most standard root canals here at Thomas Family Dentistry. There are some teeth, however, that will require the help of a specialist, and it’s up to the discretion of our dentists whether the tooth can be treated at our office. If you are referred out for root canal treatment, we work closely with a top local endodontist to ensure the best outcome for your tooth.

Like root canal therapy, we also perform some extraction procedures at our office. Again, there are  more complicated extractions that require the services of an oral surgeon. Dr. Thomas will determine if your extraction will be performed at Thomas Family Dentistry, and if not, we work with a trusted oral surgeons that are located conveniently in our area.

We are happy to meet with you during a consultation to determine the treatment that you need and the best way to get your treatment done. If you are referred to a specialist for your care, you can rest assured that your team at Thomas Family Dentistry will be guiding you through each step of the process, including your recovery.
