Dentures and Partials

If you or loved one finds themselves with compromised teeth, it can be painful and embarrassing. When you have difficulty chewing the foods you used to enjoy, and you feel self-conscious about the appearance of your teeth, the situation can start to feel hopeless.

At Thomas Family Dentistry, we want you to know there are excellent solutions available to restore multiple missing teeth and even an entire smile. Today’s dentures and partials are thoughtfully designed and offer much better fit and aesthetics than those of the past.

What Is a Full Denture?

Typically, a removable appliance, a denture is comprised of acrylic and designed with your facial structure, tooth shape and shade, and skin tone in mind. It relies on a secure fit, which provides the suction it needs to stay in place.

A denture that fits well will restore an entire arch of teeth and change the appearance of your face. Because of the pressure that is put on your jawbone to keep your denture in place, your bone changes over time and your appliance will need to be relined periodically to ensure a proper and secure fit.

Patients may experience a learning curve as they’re getting used to talking and eating with their new teeth; however, a denture immediately restores your smile and your confidence.

What Is a Partial Denture?

Patients who struggle with multiple missing teeth, yet still retain a large number of healthy teeth may benefit from a partial denture. This appliance is also removable, and it uses metal clasps to anchor to your teeth, fitting much like a retainer does. Custom shaded prosthetic teeth fill the gaps and complete your smile with a completely natural look.

Implant Supported Dentures

Have you ever struggled with a denture that doesn’t fit properly? Dentures that move or slip while you are trying to talk or eat can be frustrating and embarrassing.

A few intentionally placed dental implants can be used to support a denture, bridge, or partial, which gives you the added stability and support to eliminate movement or slippage issues.

At Thomas Family Dentistry, we work with a trusted oral surgeon conveniently located next door, who can place dental implants. Your Seymour dentists can design and customize your appliance to fit into the dental implants, providing the security you need to smile with confidence again.
